The Spanish team at Back to God Ministries International has been hard at work creating a new program for children in Latin America.
Las Aventuras de Elisardo (Elisardo’s Adventures) is based on the successful English Kids Corner, an audio program produced by ReFrame Media, the English outreach of BTGMI. Kids Corner uses entertaining, relevant stories to help children understand the Bible, trust God, and love and serve others.
“Parents are always asking us ‘why don’t you have a children’s program?’” says Guillermo Serrano, Back to God’s Spanish ministry leader.
“Las Aventuras de Elisardo is written to share the gospel with kids ages 6-9, but is also engaging for the rest of the family."
Even though programming for children is important, most ministries in Latin America are dropping this opportunity. However, radio stations that air Back to God’s adult programs are still searching for programs that reach children. And parents are searching for high quality programs, too.
Las Aventuras de Elisardo made its debut in August at the International Latin American Communicator Conference in Colombia. Positive feedback and excitement from attendees encouraged the team to dive into further production.
“To translate the Kids Corner scripts is just the beginning,” says Serrano. “We invited the best voices, adapted the original script to suit the Spanish language and culture, and coordinated with technical staff to record and edit the episodes.”
“Kids Corner has been telling important Biblical truths wrapped in fun adventures for a decade,” exclaims Ron VandenBurg, Senior Producer of Children’s Ministry at ReFrame. “How wonderful that a new creative team is taking these quality scripts and reinventing them in Spanish for all whole new exciting audience! It's an answer to prayer and an inspiration for other language groups to use our KC resources. We would love a Pentecost moment where God is using Kids Corner to spread the gospel in diverse languages to families around the world.”
In the coming months, Back to God Ministries Spanish outreach will be recruiting radio stations in both North and Latin America to put this new children’s program on the air.
