Rev. Scott Hoezee’s voice is a familiar one on Groundwork, a half-hour audio program produced by ReFrame Media and Words of Hope. He’s been a frequent guest speaker on the program and in February he joins Rev. Dave Bast, current host and president of Words of Hope, as the new Groundwork co-host.
Rev. Hoezee is an ordained pastor in the Christian Reformed Church in North America and has served two west Michigan congregations. He then became the first director for Calvin Seminary’s Center for Excellence in Preaching. He has also authored several books, including The Riddle of Grace (1996), Remember Creation (1998), and Proclaim the Wonder: Preaching Science on Sunday (2003).
Groundwork is a good fit for him, Rev. Hoezee acknowledges. "Groundwork is about 'digging into Scripture' to provide insight, guidance and meaning for our lives as Christians. That has been my passion for many years, first as a preacher, and then in my work at Calvin Seminary. God has given me opportunities to help other church leaders do this same 'digging' with their own congregations. Serving as co-host will give me yet another wonderful chance to keep learning from the Bible, and then, along with Dave Bast, to share that learning with other disciples eager to hear God's voice in Scripture."
Groundwork producer Courtney Jacob is excited to welcome Rev. Hoezee to the program. “We believe Rev. Hoezee’s insights and experience will benefit the program and be a blessing to our audience. We’re excited about this new chapter for Groundwork.”
Rev. Hoezee’s first program as co-host will hit the airwaves the 1st week of February. Groundwork airs on more than 190 radio stations in the U.S. and Canada as well as some international stations. New programs are also available each week on the Groundwork website.
“We have around 5,500 Facebook followers and about 44% of our website hits over the last six months are from returning visitors,” notes Courtney. “We’re averaging 877 hits each month and seem to be trending up. Facebook traffic has increased exponentially in the past two months.”
If you are a faithful listener to Groundwork, you will recognize Rev. Hoezee’s gifted contributions as co-host. If you haven’t had an opportunity to hear Groundwork, now is a great time to check it out!
