We are excited to welcome Rev. Jeffrey Bulthuis to the ReFrame Media team as Senior Producer for Pastoral Care. With over 10 years of pastoral care experience, a contagious passion for prayer, and giftings in writing, technology, strategic thinking, and administration, Jeff brings a many gifts to the position. He will takeover programming and expanding the ReFrame Media Prayer and Pastoral Care Ministry, which responds to the thousands of prayer requests we receive through all of our programs each year. The ministry has grown to more than 4400 volunteer prayer warriors. “I am honored to step into a role that continues the long-standing mission of ReFrame Media,” says Jeff, “to foster and encourage people—no matter where they are in their relationship with God—to draw nearer to him and have a closer walk with him.”

“For the past 5 years, Courtney Jacob, our Groundwork producer has also served in a part-time capacity as ReFrame’s prayer ministry and follow-up coordinator,” shares Steven Koster, Director of ReFrame Media. “She has done an amazing job of laying a framework upon which the ministry can expand its reach and grow.” We put the ministry in place as a bridge between the many individuals who reach out to us with prayer needs and their fellow readers and listeners who love to pray for people. It also exists to teach about the importance of prayer and to equip people to be confident in their prayer lives. Now, with Jeff in a full-time role, we can more than double our efforts in sharing God’s message of love and transformation through ReFrame’s Prayer and Pastoral Care Ministry.

Prior to joining ReFrame, Jeff, a graduate of Calvin Theological Seminary, served as Lead Pastor at Munster Christian Reformed Church in Indiana since 2010. While in Munster, Jeff worked with other leaders to guide the church through a renewal and revitalization process to help it become more community oriented. “It blessed us to see the important role prayer played in the process and we found that God went before us to prepare the way,” reflects Jeff. “Our job was to keep in step with the Spirit.” After completing his seminary training in 2007, Jeff served as Pastor of Discipleship at First CRC in DeMotte, IN, where he worked extensively with youth.

Most engagement with the prayer ministry has been through our Today devotional, Family Fire, and Groundwork programs. One of Jeff’s key mandates will be to expand ministry engagement in the remaining three programs, Church Juice, Think Christian, and Kids Corner. “Jeff has a huge heart for people and a commitment to excellence,” says Robin Basselin, who oversees ReFrame’s content strategy, including the prayer ministry. “He’s is just the person to help us invest in ways to strategically provide pastoral care across all of our programs.” Jeff has hit the ground running and is eager to grow the role of prayer across all of ReFrame’s ministries. “We can always learn more and improve,” shares Jeff, “because of that, and the nature of using technology to reach people, this prayer ministry will be a very dynamic one. And I'm excited about that!” And so are we.
